Teaching life skills through entrepreneurship
Foreshadow focuses on helping kids throughout the Twin Cities metro area build life skills such as confidence, accountability, and creativity through entrepreneurial and business concepts. We want children to leave our program envisioning bright futures for themselves while also understanding the value of commitment and education. Our curriculum is structured around building on four core competencies: Empowerment, self-leadership, futuristic thinking, and innovation. By teaching these skills while helping kids build a real business, we’re able to foster these concepts while demonstrating how they’re applicable to the real world.
Recently, Foreshadow partnered with the TurnSignl Foundation for the advancement of social justice. TurnSignl is an app that connects drivers to attorneys for on-demand legal guidance after they have been stopped by police officers. Our partnership facilitates the advancement of empowerment and safety for all.
How our programs inspire kids to be their best selves
While our programs take place in the classroom, we don’t follow a traditional education approach. The idea behind our program is that kids get to create and launch a unique product. From day one, they are the driving force behind the product design, pricing strategy, marketing materials, and more. Throughout the process, they receive hands-on mentorship from Page Scholars who act as leaders, guides, and role models.
At the end of the program, the children get to choose where the proceeds from their product go. We provide them with a list of community organizations, and they get to pick which one to support as a way to exercise the impact they can have on the world.
We can’t do it without you
Foreshadow is powered by people who are passionate about change. Led by our Executive Director, Rashelle Holmgren, and the Executive Director for the TurnSignl Foundation, Chad Dayton, we strive to create safe, educational experiences that will empower kids for the rest of their lives.
